Pleochroism is one of the lustral qualities you will get with Topaz, this means that different colours can be seen from different angles as you move the gem in the light for example a red topaz may show dark reds, yellows and pink reds.

This is a fantastic gem to use in jewellery not only for its stunning colours but also because of its durability. It reaches 8 on the mohs hardness scale.

Topaz is found in many places around the world such as Brazil, Sri Lanka, Mexico, China, Afghanistan, Australia, Japan, Madagascar, Namibia, Nigeria, Ukraine, United States and Zimbabwe. Natural light blue can also be found in England (Cornwall), Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland.
