rhodolite garnet

Rhodolite Garnet
A mixture of two parts Pyrope to one part almandine, this garnet is found in many shades of pink, red and occasionally lavender. This garnet is usually found in water worn pebbles rather than crystals. Named after the Greek 'rhod' and 'lithos' which means 'rose stone'. The name was first used to describe a pink coloured garnet from North Carolina, USA.

Rhodolite garnet tends to be lighter in colour than most other red garnets, and has even been confused with ruby because of the colour similarity. This particular gemstone has a stunning brilliance due to its high refraction of light. with a hardness of 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale this gemstone is perfect to wear everyday with the proper care.
